WHAT IS IRON PRAYER?

IRONPRAYER is a NON DENOMINATIONAL gathering of athletes, family, and friends for a time of worship, testimonies, and prayer prior to Ironman and other triathlon events around the world. The purpose is to help everyone get their focus from "self" and all that is going on with the event to  the source of strength - God and to the needs others as we pray for each other. 

HOW DID THIS BEGIN?

In October, 2000 pro triathlete Chad Hawker was riding his bicycle on Alii Drive in Kona, Hawaii in preparation for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship when he was struck by a car. Although the accident put Chad out of contention for the race, he knew that God had a reason for all of this and set out to find God's purpose. In Chad's "down time" God impressed him to start the IRON PRAYER SERVICE. This would be a non-denominational worship, praise, and prayer service for the athletes. It was to give the athletes an opportunity to get re-focused on what was really important. The first Iron Prayer Service in 2000 was a huge success and God blessed Chad and others to carry the torch to other events.  In 2007, Iron Prayer merged with FCA Endurance and has been able to expand this ministry to other Ironman, Half-Iron distances and other triathlons.  God is good!
